Altair earns an outstanding 96-point score at the Decanter World Wine Awards

Altair 2022, the iconic wine of San Pedro’s Cachapoal Andes winery, left its mark at the latest Decanter World Wine Awards with a Gold Medal and a 96-point score. Sideral 2023, the winery's ultra-premium wine, was also honoured at the competition with a Silver Medal and 94 points.

Now in its 22nd year, the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) has become one of the industry’s most influential international competitions. In 2025, wines from 57 countries were evaluated by a panel of 248 international experts, including 22 Master Sommeliers and 72 Masters of Wine—the largest number of certified specialists in the competition’s history.

Altair 2022, which embodies the best expression of the Cachapoal Andes Valley, is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 18% Carmenere, 1% Syrah and 1% Petit Verdot. The panel described the wine as “Gregarious black cherries and plums complemented by a zingy leafiness and an attractive spicy element. Structured and firm with fine-grained tannins and a youthful acidity.”

Sideral 2023, a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 10% Carmenere, 8% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, received the following tasting notes from the judges: “Lovely exotic spices and violet nuances with touches of cedar and ripe red fruit. Silky and generous, wonderfully luxurious.”

With these results, San Pedro’s iconic and ultra-premium wines are revealing once again that their place of origin in the Cachapoal Andes Valley is an exceptional source of character, elegance and high-quality winemaking
